When I first first first got my first set of drums I wanted to play just like Bonham and remember how delighted I was getting the hi-hat part to I Can't Quit You, Babe down. But the first Zep song I got all the way through was The Ocean, which I learned by singing the drum parts to myself.

Lemon is soooo funky; it was the first song they recorded for Led Zep II. I've got a bootleg of them doing a note perfect rendition of it at the Fillmore West in April '69. Three months later I was blessed to see them perform it in a much more drawn-out fashion as the last song of their show.

I had LZ I and this crappy old LP player next to my set, played that and the Allman Bros. "Beginnings" over & over......& over.
The first drum part that really tripped me out was actually Narada Walden's intro on Beck's "Led Boots". There was a guy in my group of friends that could nail that one.... it just confused me....Good stuff!

Mmm, always loved the dynamics & grace notes that John plays in Lemon Song. Would loved to have seen them live...

For me it was also "rock and roll", although I did spend a lot of time trying ot figure out the opening fills on "good times, bad times"

ashio, Ten Years Gone is a great look at the pop side of Bonham, just like Tangerine. Just when you think there's nothing to it Bonzo turns it inside out like a sock in the washing machine.

Celebration Day deserves some props. That thing just crushes from the beginning...I love playing to it.

I've got a live Celebration Day from Berkeley 1971 and John Paul Jones owns it. Only Led Zeppelin could have a bootleg called My Brain Hurts.
